Aberdeen Catering moving as Scotty’s permanently closes

The Scotty’s era in Aberdeen is over.

For good this time.

Doeden Investment Group announced Wednesday, May 29 that Aberdeen Catering Co. is moving into the old Scotty’s Diner building at 719 N. Main St.

Scotty’s is now permanently closed.

“This strategic move will provide Aberdeen Catering Co. with the additional space and resources needed to accommodate its expanding operations while enhancing the overall customer experience,” Toby Doeden said in a news release.

Doeden Investment Group owns Aberdeen Catering and the Scotty’s building.

Aberdeen Catering will offer drive-thru service, and the interior will be available for parties, meetings and other small gatherings, according to the release.

Doeden said the change will allow Aberdeen Catering to better serve customers and meet demand.

“With this move, Aberdeen Catering Co. reaffirms its commitment to delivering exceptional culinary experiences and personalized service to clients throughout the Aberdeen area and beyond. The new location will enable Aberdeen Catering to continue its tradition of excellence while fostering even greater community engagement and collaboration,” Doeden said in the release.

Scotty’s has had a couple reincarnations, most recently reopening last year as a ’50s-themed diner. But Doeden Investment Group announced earlier this spring the model wasn’t working as well as hoped.

In April, the restaurant closed as it looked to make changes.

Scotty’s Drive Inn opened in Aberdeen in 1962. It was a chain known for its hamburgers, including the Rebel Burger, a triple cheeseburger.
