Aberdeen’s Wooden Mallet Inc. to close after 50 years

Wooden Mallet Inc. in Aberdeen will close later this year, according to a news release from the business.

The manufacturing business that’s in the industrial park has been open for 50 years.

“Founded and operated as a family business, David and Jim Kreber extend their heartfelt gratitude to all current and former employees for their unwavering commitment, loyalty and contributions throughout the years,” the release sent by Owner David Kreber reads.

The decision was not made lightly, but changing national and world market conditions led to the choice, Kreber said.

“Aberdeen has been a remarkable community in which to live and run a business, and we’re grateful to have had the opportunity to contribute in our own small way over the entirety of our 50-year history. Over the years, Wooden Mallet Inc. has produced a wide range of high-quality wood products, including literature displays, magazine racks, coat racks, folding luggage racks, upholstered seating for offices and waiting rooms, along with numerous other products. These items were sold and shipped to destinations across the U.S. and all over the globe,” he said.

The Krebers are appreciative of the support they’ve received and the relationships they’ve built through five decades, according to the release.
