The city’s longtime planning and zoning director has been hired as executive director for the Aberdeen Housing Authority.
Current Executive Director Jody Zueger is retiring later this year. Bill begins his new job in September, according to a news release.

Brett Bill
Bill has been Aberdeen’s planning and zoning director for nearly 25 years. During that time, he has been responsible for managing all aspects of planning and zoning, building inspection and code enforcement.
He said he has assembled a great staff within the city planning and zoning office and it was a hard decision to leave. In his letter of resignation to the city manager, Bill said he has enjoyed working for the city for 25-plus years, but it’s time for a career change.

“I appreciate all that the city of Aberdeen has done for me and my family, and I will always have fond memories of the great city staff that I have had the pleasure of working with,” he said.
Zueger started working at the housing authority 26 years ago and has served as its executive director for the past 18 years. In that time, the program has grown from providing federal public housing and Section 8 voucher housing to also managing tax credit properties and multi-family properties, according to the release.
Zueger and Bill will work together in the fall.
“In interviewing candidates for this position, the board for the AHA were looking for a new director that could take the progress that the housing authority has made over the past few years in serving the community and grow our services even further. We feel confident that Brett’s knowledge and commitment to the community will do just that,” Marty Sabolo, chairman of the housing authority board, said in the release.
