BROWN COUNTY COMMISSION

APRIL 22, 2025 – CONSOLIDATED BOARD OF EQUALIZATION

Meeting called to order by Chairman Sutton at 1:00 P.M. in the Commission Chambers, Courthouse Annex, Brown County, SD. Present were Commissioners Dennert, Gage and Sutton, Aberdeen School Board Member Duane Alm, Aberdeen City Mayor Schaunaman, Director of Equalization, Gene Loeschke and Appraisers Russell Metz, Kathy Fischer and Stephanie Morgan.

CONTESTED: Moved by Mayor Schaunaman, seconded by Commissioner Dinger to approve the Director of Equalization recommendation as follows:

  • For Aberdeen Homes I, LLC of LT 379 & S 17’ LT 380 Morning Heights Addition: Parcel #16843 to lower the assessed value from $133,965.00 to $111,879.00.
  • For Aberdeen Homes, LLC of LT 3 HAFSOS RAR LT 11-12 BK 26 THOMAS Addition: Parcel #13591 to lower the assessed value from $181,885.00 to $150,234.00.
  • For Aberdeen Homes I, LLC of LT 10-11 Hall’s SD BK Hagerty & Lloyd Addition to leave the assessed value at $164,663.00.
  • For Aberdeen Homes II, LLC of LT 15-16 BK 8 Hagerty & Lloyd Addition to leave the assessed value at $138,691.00.
  • For Aberdeen Homes II, LLC of LT 20 BK 18 18th Addition to Highland North to lower the assessed value from $283,859.00 to $277,712.00.
  • For Aberdeen Homes II, LLC of LT 67 & S ½ LT 68 BK 3 Gorder’s 1st Addition to leave the assessed value at $267,613.00.

All members present voting aye. Motion carried.

APPEALS: Moved by Commissioner Gage, seconded by Aberdeen School Board Member Alm to approve the Director of Equalization recommendation for Trevan Korthour of LT 1 BK 1 Heritage Estates Addition, SW 7-123-63 (LT 18 Cambridge Addition RPL LT A & B) to leave the assessed value at $485,541.00. All members present voting aye. Motion carried.

ADJOURNMENT: Moved by Mayor Schaunaman, seconded by Commissioner Dinger to adjourn the Consolidated Board of Equalization for 2025 at 1:37 p.m. All members present voting aye. Motion carried.
