April 29, 2025 – GENERAL MEETING
Meeting called to order by Vice-Chairman Gage at 8:45 A.M. in the Commission Chambers, Courthouse Annex, Brown County, SD. Present were Commissioners Dennert, Dinger, Gage, and Wiese. Commissioner Sutton was absent. Commissioner Dinger led the Pledge of Allegiance.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Moved by Commissioner Dennert, seconded by Dinger to approve the agenda. All members present voting aye. Motion carried.
OPPORTUNITY FOR PUBLIC COMMENT: Senator Perry informed the Commission that tonight from 5pm – 8pm at Arby’s a portion of the sale proceeds will be donated to the Aberdeen Homeless Coalition.
ORDINANCE #292 – SECOND READING/POSSIBLE ADOPTION: Moved by Commissioner Wiese, seconded by Dennert to adopt Ordinance #292. Petitioner Donald & Jolene Bonn to rezone from Mini-Agriculture District (M-AG) to Lake Front Residential District (R-3) to bring these parcels into compliance for its current use: Description of property: Lot 6, “Greg Hoffman Addition” in the E1/2 of Section 14-T124N-R65W of the 5th P.M., Brown County, South Dakota (126979 West Shore Drive, Ravinia Twp.). All members present voting aye. Motion carried.
ORDINANCE #293 – SECOND READING/POSSIBLE ADOPTION: Moved by Commissioner Dinger, seconded by Wiese to adopt Ordinance #293. Petitioner Donald & Becky Wegleitner to rezone from Agriculture Preservation District (AG-P) to Mini-Agriculture District (M-AG) to bring this parcel into compliance for its current use: Description of property: The E 42.5 Rods of the S 77.75 Rods in the NE 1/4 of Section 4-T125N-R60W of the 5th P.M., Brown County, South Dakota (11831 409th Avenue, Claremont Twp.). APPLICATION FOR OCCUPANCY FOR GENE WOLTER: Moved by Commissioner Wiese, seconded by Dennert to approve the following application submitted by Gene Wolter for occupancy of Brown County 6 (aka 382nd Ave.) in Section 30-T124-R64, Brown County, South Dakota to install potable water line. All members present voting aye. Motion carried.
ANNUAL ENROLLMENT BENEFITS: Allison Tunheim, Human Resources Director, met with the Commission to discuss the Annual Enrollment Benefits. The County will stay with Optilegra for Vision Insurance, there are no plan changes or increases; Dental insurance will stay with Delta Dental and there will be a 2.8% increase; Health Insurance will stay with Wellmark but there will be changes to keep the increase at the lowest rate, which will be 4.2%; switching the FSA, HSA & Dependent Care provider from WEX Health to HealthEquity. Open Enrollment will start on May 5th and go through May 16th. A Benefit Fair will be held on May 5th & 6th in the Community Room, all Vendors will be in attendance.
