NOTICE OF JUNE 9, 2026 MEETING MINUTES
Meeting called to order by Chairman Sutton at 8:45 A.M. in the Commission Chambers, Courthouse Annex, Brown County, SD. Present were Commissioners Dennert, Dinger, Gage, Sutton and Wiese. Commissioner Wiese led the Pledge of Allegiance.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Moved by Commissioner Wiese, seconded by Dennert to approve the amended agenda. All members present voting aye. Motion carried.
PUBLIC COMMENT: None
RICHMOND DAM UPDATE: Chairman Sutton shared that he didn’t get an update from Commissioner Greenfield, but he did know that they had 2 pumps running at this time. Mike Russell with Richmond Lake Association commented that Foote Creek was lower at Richmond.
PUBLIC HEARING-TEMPORARY ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE PERMIT FOR SPECIAL EVENT:
Moved by Commissioner Wiese, seconded by Dinger to approve the following Temporary Alcoholic Beverage Permit in conjunction with a Special Event for Richmond Lake Association, Aberdeen, SD for 4th of July Celebration to be held at Richmond Pavilion, Richmond Resort Outlot 2 in the NE ¼ Section 25-T124N-R65W Brown County, SD; effective on July 3, 2026. All members present voting aye. Motion carried.
FIREWORKS PERMIT – RICHMOND LAKE ASSOCIATION: Moved by Commissioner Wiese, seconded by Dennert to approve and acknowledge the change in locations for the Richmond Lake Association Fireworks Permit from County Road 6, South of Richmond Lake Dam to Edwards Preserve for July 3, 2026. All members present voting aye. Motion carried.
SURPLUS – FAIR OFFICE: Moved by Commissioner Dinger, seconded by Gage to approve to declare the following printer’s surplus from the Fair Office to be disposed of at the Brown County Landfill: Laser Jet Color 400 HP & HP DesignJet Z5200 Plotter. All members present voting aye. Motion carried.
MINUTES: Moved by Commissioner Dennert, seconded by Wiese to approve the General Meeting Minutes of June 2, 2026. All members present voting aye. Motion carried.
Moved by Commissioner Gage, seconded by Wiese to approve the Primary Election Canvass Minutes of June 5, 2026. All members present voting aye. Motion carried.

- Transfer of Jarell Arndt from FT Brown County Landfill Heavy Equipment Operator to PT Brown County Landfill Heavy Equipment Operator, starting wage $24.93/hr. – effective June 7, 2026. Request to fill.
- Hiring Brian Bell as Brown County Seasonal Weed & Pest Control Technician, starting wage $24.93/hr. – effective June 29, 2026.
All members present voting aye. Motion carried.
LANDFILL TONNAGE REPORT: Moved by Commissioner Wiese, seconded by Gage to acknowledge the Landfill Tonnage Report for May 2026. All members present voting aye. Motion carried.
TRAVEL REQUESTS: Moved by Commissioner Wiese, seconded by Dennert to approve the following Travel Requests: Patricia Kendall, Sherri Rawstern and Marianne Marttila-Klipfel, Dacotah Prairie Museum to attend the SD Historical Society Annual History Conference. All members present voting aye. Motion carried.
LEASE AGREEMENTS: Moved by Commissioner Gage, seconded by Wiese to approve & authorize Chairman Sutton to sign the following lease agreements: The Highway 12 Show to lease the Hog & Sheep Barn, Expo Addition and 4 sets of bleachers on June 12, 2026; Farmer’s Union to lease the Farmer’s Union Ag Expo Center on June 11th for Farmer’s Union Camp. All members present voting aye. Motion carried.
OTHER BUSINESS: None
EXECUTIVE SESSION: Moved by Commissioner Wiese, seconded by Dinger to go into Executive Session per SDCL 1-25-2 for Contracts and Personnel. All members present voting aye. Motion carried.
Chairman Sutton declared the Executive Session closed with No Action taken.
