A celebration of life is planned for an Aberdeen woman who moved to Georgia in 2016 and disappeared shortly thereafter.
Morgan A. Bauer was 19 when she left Aberdeen for Atlanta. Though law enforcement investigated her disappearance for several years, it wasn’t until October 2023 that her remains were found. Ultimately, two people were arrested and charged in connection to her death.

Bauer’s celebration of life is at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11 at St. Mary’s Fellowship Hall in Aberdeen. Visitation is one hour prior with a private inurnment to follow.
One person charged has pleaded guilty and is serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole. Jonathan A. Warren, 34, who was arrested in California, pleaded guilty in a Newton County courtroom in Georgia Wednesday, Jan. 10 to charges of malice murder, tampering with evidence, concealing the death of another and necrophilia, according to a statement from the Newton County District Attorney.

Charges are still pending against Katelyn Goble, 28, who faces charges of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, tampering with evidence and concealing the death of another. She was living in Illinois at the time charges were filed.
A court hearing was once set for this week, but it’s unclear whether that happened or was postponed, according to Georgia legal documents.
