ORDINANCE NO. 25-02-01
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 12 – BUILDING AND BUILDING REGULATIONS OF THE ABERDEEN CITY CODE
REGARDING REPEAL OF PLUMBER EXAMINING BOARD AND CITY-ISSUED PLUMBER LICENSE REQUIREMENT
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Aberdeen is charged with protecting the health, safety, and property of its citizens; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that the following ordinance will protect the health, safety, and property of its citizens.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF ABERDEEN THAT THE FOLLOWING CHANGES AND ADDITIONS SHALL BE MADE TO THE ABERDEEN CITY CODE:
- Division 1. of Article IV, Building Trade Regulations of Chapter 12 – BUILDINGS AND BUILDING REGULATION is hereby amended with strikethrough indicating text to be deleted, underline indicating text to be added, and the remainder of the Chapter to be left unaffected:
Sec. 12-141. Reserved.
Sec. 12-142. State license required.
No individual shall engage in the business of plumbing in the city as a master plumber or a journeyman plumber unless licensed as such by the state. The license shall be issued in the name of an individual of the firm and a current copy must be maintained on file with the office of the building official prior to obtaining any plumbing permit.
Sec. 12-143. Reserved
Sec. 12-144. Use of licensee’s name.
No licensed plumber shall allow his or her name to be used by another person either for the purpose of obtaining permits, or for doing business or work under the license.
- Severability. The provisions of this ordinance are severable. If any provision of this ordinance or the application thereof to any person or circumstance is held to be invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications of this ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application.
- Effective Date. The City Finance Officer shall cause this ordinance to be published in the official newspaper in clean text with all deletions and additions incorporated therein and footnotes This ordinance shall become effective twenty
(20) days after the completed publication, unless the referendum is invoked.
