NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Aberdeen Regional Airport of the City of Aberdeen, South Dakota, will receive sealed bids at the office of the Finance Officer at City Hall, 123 South Lincoln Street, Aberdeen, SD 57401, for the rental of the city hangar located on the Aberdeen Regional Airport, Aberdeen, SD.
SUBJECT: The hangar to be leased is located in Brown County, South Dakota, to wit:
“A steel hangar approximately 60 feet by 90 feet located between the FBO areas on the general aviation ramp in Section Twenty-One (21), Township One Hundred Twenty-Three (123), Range Sixty-Three (63), West of the Fifth Principal Meridian, Brown County, South Dakota”.
RESTRICTED USE OF HANGAR: The city hangar may be used only for aviation purposes. A successful bidder who is not an airline tenant or fixed base operator (FBO) at the Airport may use the hangar only for non-commercial aviation purposes.
BID CONDITIONS: Any bid for the city hangar with an annual rental amount of less than $14,100.00, plus sales taxes, and with an annual increase of less than 3% will be rejected.
BID PROCEDURE: Bids will be received until 2:00 p.m. on April 7, 2026, and then be publicly opened and read. The winning bid may be selected at the regular meeting of the Aberdeen City Council on April 20, 2026. In the event of tie bids, the Council may conduct an auction at its meeting with the tie bidders. The Council must publish notice of its intent to approve the lease with the winning bidder and hold a public hearing before it may grant final approval to the lease and authorize the Notice of Award. Within 20 days of the Notice of Award, the successful bidder will be required to execute a “Municipal Hangar Lease Agreement.” Form leases for an FBO and for a non-FBO are available from the Transportation Director. A form lease may be modified before final Council approval.
A certified check, cashier’s check or bank draft drawn on a solvent state or national bank, payable to the City of Aberdeen in the amount of five percent (5%) of the total yearly bid must accompany each bid, or in lieu thereof, a bid bond in the amount of ten percent (10%) of the yearly bid is acceptable and should be made out to the City of Aberdeen as the guarantee that such bidder will enter into a lease contract, in case such bidder be awarded the contract. Bid shall be enclosed in a sealed envelope and plainly marked “BID FOR CITY HANGAR”.
The Aberdeen City Council reserves the right to make the award on the basis it deems advisable and in the best interest of the City and to reject any and all bids.
