JULY 6, 2026 MINUTES

Frederick’s town board meeting was held Monday, July 6 in the Frederick Community Center beginning at 7:00 PM. Attending the meeting were Chairman Scott Campbell, Board members Troy Millard and Marty Morlock, Finance Officer Jennifer Morlock and Assistant Finance Officer Mariah Heine, and Joel and Stephanie Sumption.

Chairman Campbell opened the meeting and led in the Pledge of Allegiance.

The minutes of the June meeting was read and approved with a motion by Millard/Morlock; motion carried. The financial statements were reviewed and accepted with a motion by Millard/Campbell; motion carried.  The July accounts payable were approved with a motion by Millard/Morlock; motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS

Campbell provided a utility report. The board reviewed the Brown County Sheriff’s Report.  The board is discussed nuisance properties and notices sent. Motion to approve bid from Jensen Rock and Sand for asphalt and street repair in the amount of $ made by Millard/Campbell; motion carried. Motion to accept the variance from Joel and Stephanie Sumption for a shop to be built on the property at Howells OL 3 Frederick E1/2 11-127-64 made by Millard/Morlock; motion carried. The variance request from Dustin Usselman at McKay Lot B NW 11-127-64 has been tabled to be discussed after further clean-up of the property.

 

NEW BUSINESS

Motion to approve Ordinance #2026-03 regarding grass clippings made by Morlock/Millard, roll call vote had ayes by all; motion carried.  Scott Campbell read and signed his Oath of Office to accept his position on the board for a three-year term.  The meeting was turned over to Assistant Finance Officer Mariah Heine. The nominations for Chairman were opened followed by a nomination of Campbell by Millard/Morlock as well as a nomination for Morlock by Campbell/Millard. Motion for cease of nominations made by Campbell/Millard; motion carried. Votes were counted with Campbell securing the chairman position. The meeting was turned over to Campbell. Motion to nominate the First National Bank of Frederick as the official financial institution made by Morlock/Millard; motion carried with Campbell abstaining. Motion to designate Aberdeen Insider as newspaper made by Campbell/Millard; motion carried. Motion to designate Kimberly Dorsett of Richardson Law Firm as city attorney made by Campbell/Millard; motion carried.  Motion to approve second quarter report by Emma Burnham Library made by Millard/Campbell; motion carried.

 

The next regular meeting will be Wednesday, August 5th at 7PM.
