CITY OF MELLETTE
NOTICE OF 9/8/25 MEETING MINUTES
The Mellette City Council meeting was held on September 8, 2025 at 7:00 pm at the fire hall. Council members present: Hartman, Deuter, Bunge, Palmer, Seymour and Knight.
Per SDCL 1-25-1 Public comments were offered. No one from the public was present for public input.
President Knight called the meeting to order. The minutes of the August meeting were read and the financial report was given. Discussion was held regarding hauling dirt to 4th Avenue. A motion was made by Hartman to accept the minutes and the financial report. Second by Deuter. All voted Aye.
Council reviewed Open Meetings Laws from SD Attorney General given to the council by city attorney Vic Fischbach.
The following bills were presented to the council. Motion by Palmer to pay the following bills. Second by Deuter. All voted Aye.

Committee Reports:
Sewer & Water – Reviewed water loss report in town. Will contact school and WEB and ask Wayne to check meters. Benders ended up flushing all of the sewer mains instead of just the south side of town. Found large blockages on East Main street and Main Street.
Streets – Discussed drainage on Cady street going East.
Park & Rec – nothing to report
Rubble – nothing to report
Dog & Cat – nothing to report
Finance officer presented the 2024 annual report to the council. A motion to accept the annual report was made by Seymour. Second by Bunge. All voted Aye. Finance officer will submit to the state.
Temporary liquor license request from MCDF for October 4 from 2pm-2am for wedding. A motion to approve was made by Palmer. Second by Deuter. All voted Aye.
Temporary liquor license request from MCDF for October 17 from 2pm-2am for MVFD Gun Raffle. A motion to approve was made by Hartman. Second by Palmer. All voted Aye.
First reading of Ordinance 138 for the 2026 budget was held. Second reading will be held on October 13, 2025.
Motion made by Deuter to adjourn. Second by Hartman. All voted Aye.
Next regular meeting October 13, 2025 at 7:00 pm at the fire hall.
