Effie “Eve” Larson,88, of Aberdeen, SD, passed away Saturday, December 20, 2025.

Eve’s wishes were to be cremated. A service will be held later in May 2026.

Effie “Eve” Larson was born on December 14, 1937, to Ralph and Eva (Mikkonen) Larson. She grew up on her family’s farm in Frederick, South Dakota. She lived in various states before returning to South Dakota to be with her parents.

After graduating from high school, Eve worked as a nurse and taught nursing in several states. She joined the Wyoming Air National Guard and the Air Force, serving as a proud veteran stationed in the Philippines during the Vietnam War. Following her military service, Eve furthered her studies in Agriculture and Chinese. She actively promoted organic farming and engaged in agricultural mediation work.

Eve traveled extensively and was deeply involved in civic and community activities. She enjoyed a multitude of interests, including travel, birding, classical music, reading, scrabble, bridge, dogs, theater, and history. She formed friendships with a diverse group of people.

Eve served on the board of the Dakotah Prairie Museum, was active in the local League of Women Voters, Aberdeen Community Theater, and other community groups. She cherished spending time with her family and friends on her deck, where her friendships reflected her diverse interests and strong community ties. Her love of learning prompted many trips, both with friends and family.

Eve is survived by her siblings: Valerie Nixon and Julian Larson; her nieces and nephews: Erik Larson, Alina Larson (Thomas Kraemer), Rhonda (Mathew) O’Brien, Bradley (Michelle) Nixon; her great-niece, Maya O’Brien, and great-nephews: Colin O’Brien and Luke Kraemer.

Eve was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Eva Larson.
