SPECIAL BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING
APRIL 29, 2026
A special meeting of the Frederick Area Board of Education was called to order on April 29, 2026 at 8:00 p.m. by President Rich Schlosser. Members present were Rich Achen, Jon Ellwein, Alex Hart and Eric Sumption. Others present were Superintendent/9-12 Principal/Athletic Director Jeff Kosters and Business Manager Shauna Severson; Guests present were Troy Millard, Kelli Millard, Joel Sumption, Steph Sumption and others via zoom.
The meeting began with all present reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
2026-116 Motion by Ellwein, second by Achen to approve the agenda as presented. All voted Aye. Motion carried.
No public comment.
No conflict of interest disclosures.
The district received the 2026-27 Workforce Education Grant in the amount of $55,142. The Ag Building was discussed; options by both Joel and Steph Sumption, as well as, Troy and Kelli Millard were presented.
2026-117 Motion by Sumption, second by Achen to offer work agreements for the 2026-2027 school year: Amanda Wolbeck – Administrative Assistant and Belle Lunders – Paraprofessional. All voted Aye. Motion carried.
2026-118 Motion by Ellwein, second by Sumption to set the Administrative Assistant Training Rate at the sub rate of $110/day. All voted Aye. Motion carried.
2026-119 Motion by Sumption, second by Hart to go into executive session at 8:13 p.m. for SDCL 1-25-2 (1) Personnel and SDCL 1-25-2 (4) Negotiations. All voted Aye. Motion carried.
Schlosser declared the board out of executive session at 9:42 p.m.
2026-120 Motion by Sumption, second by Ellwein to adjourn at 9:43 p.m. All voted Aye. Motion carried.
