Man in custody after ‘brutal assault’ reported Tuesday night, police say


A 32-year-old man is in custody, charged with felony burglary, kidnapping and aggravated domestic assault.

​The charges are connected to an incident around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, according to a news release from the Aberdeen Police Department. That’s when officers were dispatched to a residence for a report of a domestic assault.

When police arrived, officers found a 32-year-old woman who had suffered serious injuries, according to the release. The woman reported being subjected to a brutal assault and was taken by ambulance to Avera St. Luke’s Hospital, according to police.

By the time officers arrived, the male suspect had fled the scene, prompting an immediate search throughout the Midwest, according to the release. The man was found in North Platte, Neb., and arrested by the Nebraska State Patrol.

The name of the suspect has not yet been released, and he has not made a court appearance.
