A man wanted on felony warrants is in jail after he was arrested over the weekend while armed, according to a news release from the Aberdeen Police Department.
Around 11 p.m. Saturday, July 26, deputies from the Brown County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle near the 200 block of South Park St.
“The vehicle was occupied by a male subject who they believed to be armed and known to have felony warrants. The vehicle also contained a female passenger. The deputies conducted a high-risk stop and members of the Aberdeen Police Department responded to assist,” according to the news release.

After the stop, the woman got out of the vehicle, and it was confirmed that the man had a gun, per the release. After he refused to get out of the vehicle, officers secured the area and the public was advised of the issue.
Officers began communications and negotiations with the man, and the Aberdeen Special Response Team responded.
The matter was resolved peacefully around 1:30 a.m. Sunday, July 27. The man was arrested and is being held at the Brown County Jail. He faces several charges from the weekend incident and the warrants, according to the news release.
