Maria Francis Forsting was born on March 15, 1964, in Aberdeen, SD, to Leo and Agnes (Brossart) Forsting. She grew up on the family farm near Columbia and attended grade school in Barnard, graduating from Frederick High School.
Maria was united in marriage to Paul Anderson on July 19, 1997, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Aberdeen. They continued to make Aberdeen their lifelong home.
For many, Maria was known from the Flame, where she worked as a waitress for 40 years. During this time, she became close friends with many coworkers and clientele, and she was often requested to be their server. Maria worked for the Aberdeen School District for many years in the school lunch and breakfast programs. She also worked in housekeeping at the Holiday Inn and later oversaw housekeeping at St. Mary’s Rectory. Maria didn’t have much time for other hobbies because her drive to work kept her busy, always working multiple jobs at a time.
Maria is survived by her husband, Paul; her son, William (Elizabeth) Kiser of Sioux Falls; her grandchildren: Grace, Olivia, Liam, and Damian; sisters: Madonna Sahli of Phoenix AZ, and Mary Thorpe of Blunt SD; brothers: Morris (Gloria) Forsting of Sioux Falls, Mark (Sugrida) Forsting of Brandon FL, and Monty (Jo) Forsting of Aberdeen; and many cousins, nephews and nieces (especially Michael Marie).
Maria was preceded in death by her parents, brother Michael, and several furry companions, especially her beloved dog, Jordy.
