After spending the last three months traveling the world, I am ready for my next, and hopefully slightly less-hectic, adventure.
My name is Paige Schmidt, and I am joining The Aberdeen Insider as an intern for the summer.

Schmidt
This past semester, I studied abroad in Florence, Italy, and occupied myself with studying Italian, reading Dante and exploring Europe on the weekends. I visited eight different countries, two of my favorites being Switzerland and Ireland.
I even went skydiving.
It was a great opportunity to learn about different cultures and their people, see the world and expand my understanding of beauty.
Although I might like to, I do not live in Florence. Instead, I spend most of the school year in Kansas. I live in a small town called Atchison, where I attend Benedictine College and will return as a junior in the fall.
I stay involved on campus, running for the cross-country and track and field teams, helping lead freshman orientation and participating in various leadership groups. I am studying political science and journalism/mass communications and am excited for all I will learn and the experience this internship will give me.

Florence is an incredible place, but I am grateful to be back in Aberdeen and spend the summer at home with my family. I have four siblings who are also my best friends, one of which is my identical twin sister.
When I am not working, I usually spend my time running, reading, playing pickleball and doing crafts or going on adventures with my friends. When I have free time, I love going to the movies and to concerts. I also greatly enjoy hiking when I am able to get out to the mountains.
I graduated from Roncalli High School in 2024 where I participated in cross-country, track and field, journalism, band, drama and student council, and I am still an avid supporter of Roncalli sports and fine arts.
I am unsure what life after college has in store for me and am looking forward to using my time at The Aberdeen Insider to explore my interests, sharpen my skills and learn more about the world of journalism.
