UNAPPROVED MINUTES OF THE SCHOOL BOARD

REGULAR MEETING, AUGUST 11TH, 2025

 

The regular meeting of the Northwestern Area School Board was held on August 11th, 2025, at Northwestern School with the following: Adam Hahler, Megan Clemensen, Kevin Nash, and Heidi Boekelheide.  Others present: Rob Lewis, Sydney Hammrich, Nora Groft, Holly Randall and Chris Ulrich,. All motions were passed on a unanimous vote unless otherwise indicated.

 

The meeting was opened by Chairman Nash with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag @ 6:30pm.

OPEN FORUM-PUBLIC COMMENT: N/A

 

The agenda was approved as amended upon adding I. Discuss/Approve Newspaper Selection Hahler motions, Clemensen seconds, motion carried(action #25-121).

 

CONSIDERATION OF DISCLOSURE OF CONFLICT OF INTEREST AUTHORIZATION:  Board President Kevin Nash sustained from bus driver compensation.

 

CONSENT AGENDA: Motion by Clemensen/Boekelheide to approve the following consent agenda items: (A) The minutes of the July 24th, 2025, Budget, Annual, and Regular. (B) The Adjusted journal entries, current claims, and purchasing card for July 31st, 2025 (C) The unadjusted financial statement for July 31st, 2025. (E)The open enrollment applications for SY 2025-2026. (25-122)

  • Reports: Mr. Ulrich High school check-ins August 14th. Open House /6th Grade orientation is Monday , August 18th 4:00pm – 7:00pm. ^th Grad orientation is at 6:00pm. Fist Day of School is August 19th there is a 12:30 Dismissal. Picture Day is August 20th. NSU E-Learning courses start Wednesday August 20th. Dual Credit courses start Monday, August 25th. Randall K-5 Math YOU curriculum has arrived and will be put to use this year.Elementary will run on a color rotation this year with specials. To ensure all grades get euql amount of time in each special. Back to School Open House is Monday August 18th , 4pm-7pm. We will have “back to school” and fun “hippie” themed photo opportunities for students, staff and parents to enjoy. To encourage school spirit, PK-5 students are invited to submit to our comment box. This will qualify participants for a drawing to be held at the end of our first week of school. Wildcat Rescue ambulance service at football games. MSVB Tourney 9.15.2025 @ Warner. Mrs. Hammrich Transfers for SY 2024-2025 have been made. Mr. Lewis Playground – slide and tunnel fixed. August 14, I will be doing the safety care training for Langford. New teachers last week / Inservice started today. Update on boiler project, boilers are installed, just waiting to be hooked up. Building update from summer work Rekeying is being done this week, concrete has been poured by football crows nest and to extend the long jump run way. Football crows nest has been enclosed. Will make a one way out front of the school with city council.
