Plowing of streets in Aberdeen to begin at 6 a.m. Sunday


A snow alert has been issued for Aberdeen.

Plowing of emergency snow routes in town will begin at 6 a.m. Sunday, March 15, said City Manager Dave McNeil. The city will adhere to its regular schedule.

Clearing north-south streets in Zone 2 and all of Zone 3 will begin at 7 a.m. Generally speaking, Zone 3 includes all streets as well as avenues on the edges of town. Plowing of east-west avenues in Zone 2 will begin at 1 p.m.

Plowing of Zone 1, the commercial zone in downtown Aberdeen, will begin at 10 p.m.

Vehicles parked along streets from the time plowing begins in a zone until streets in the zone are cleared from curb to curb are subject to ticketing and towing.

It’s illegal to shovel, blow, blade or push snow into city streets at any time, except where permitted in Zone 1.

The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for Aberdeen and the surrounding area effective until 7 p.m. Sunday. Snow is likely, mostly before 8 a.m. The projected high is 17 with a low of six below. Winds are expected to be about 30 mph throughout the day with gusts as high as 49.
