Police investigating incident of shots fired from vehicle


The Aberdeen Police Department is investigating an incident in which shots were fired from a vehicle the night of Thursday, Feb. 1

Officers responded to the 10 block of 13th Avenue Southeast for several reports of shots fired around 10:30 p.m., according to a news release from police. Responding officers included one who was at a traffic stop near the intersection of South Main Street and Fourth Avenue Southeast who heard the gunshots.

Officers fielded reports from witnesses who said the shots were fired from inside a dark-colored sedan that sped away, per the release.

The sedan was northbound on Lincoln Street. Several spent shell casings were found in the street, according to the release, but there have been no reports of injuries or property damage.

As the investigation continues, police are asking anyone who lives in the area to check for potential damage and to check home camera systems for video of the vehicle. Anyone with information is asked to call the Brown County Communications at 605-626-7911. A reward is being offered for information directly leading to the identification and arrest of the people involved.
