NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING TO ADOPT RULES
A public hearing will be held by Microsoft Teams, on April 30, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. Central Time, to consider the adoption and amendment of proposed Administrative Rules of South Dakota numbered:
§ 20:44:18:01, 20:44:18:02, 20:44:18:03, 20:44:20:01, 20:44:20:02, 20:44:20:02.01, 20:44:20:03, 20:44:20:04, 20:44:20:05, 20:44:20:06, 20:44:20:07, 20:44:20:08, 20:44:20:09, 20:44:20:10, 20:44:20:12, 20:44:20:13, 20:44:23:04, 20:44:24:05; and 20:44:24:06.
The effect of the rules will be to increase the cost of wiring permits from fifteen to twenty dollars, increase various inspection fees on electrical installations, repeal the following unique fee categories: outdoor signs and lighting, field irrigation systems, swimming pools, and carnivals, increase the cost of apartments from fifty to one hundred fifty dollars, and increase the administrative fee from one hundred to two hundred fifty dollars.
The reason for adopting the proposed rules is to increase revenue to sustain commission operations.
Persons interested in presenting amendments, data, opinions, and arguments for or against the proposed rules may appear via Microsoft Teams video conference using the login information below, or mail or e-mail them to South Dakota Electrical Commission, 217 W Missouri Ave, Pierre, SD 57501 and [email protected]. The deadline to submit any such written comments for consideration by the commission is seventy-two hours before the date of the public hearing and no later than 1:00 P.M. Central Time on April 27, 2025.
After the written comment period, the Electrical Commission will consider all written and oral comments it receives on the proposed rules. The Electrical Commission may modify or amend a proposed rule at that time to include or exclude matters that are described in this notice.
