Defending Class AA girls 100-meter dash champion Gracie Rife of Aberdeen Central finished second at the Ruth Marske Invitational indoor track and field meet on Saturday, March 29 at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex at South Dakota State University in Brookings.
Her time was 12.18 seconds, behind only Pierre’s Kalie Ringstmeyer.
Breckin Santjer took second in the girls pole vault, clearing 10-feet, 9 inches. Teammate Jayden Forsyth was third with a vault of 10-feet, 3 inches.

Central’s Juna Ramey was impressive in the 3,200-meter run, claiming third in a time of 11:47.61. In the shot put, Taryn Hermansen placed third with a toss of 42 feet, 5 inches.
The Golden Eagle girls were eighth in the team standings as Waukee Northwest of Iowa won the meet.
In the boys division, Central’s Kyson Fayant finished second in the 300-meter hurdles in 40.49 seconds.
Joran Foss took fourth in the shot put with a heave of 49 feet, 1 inch. Carter Lust placed seventh in the 100-meter dash in 11.17 seconds.
In the team race, the Eagles were 13th as Sioux Falls Lincoln claimed the title.
- Aberdeen Central’s boys tennis team opened its 2025 season by splitting four matches at the West River Invitational Thursday, March 27 and Friday, March 28 in Rapid City. The Golden Eagles dropped their first match to Rapid City Stevens 8-1. Aberdeen bounced back for a 6-3 win over Rapid City Central. The Eagles garnered four wins in singles and two in doubles for the victory. Central split two matches on Friday, knocking off St. Thomas More 6-3 before falling to Rapid City Christian 7-2. AJ Prehn picked up a 10-7 win at No. 1 singles against More and paired with Gustavo Carrera for the win in top-flight doubles.
- Aberdeen Roncalli also took part in the West River Invitational last weekend, going 2-3. The Cavaliers defeated Rapid City Central 7-2 and Spearfish 9-0, but lost to Rapid City Stevens, Rapid City Christian and St. Thomas More.
- Jalyssa Hutson of Ipswich won two events at the Dewey Donat Classic indoor track and field meet Monday, March 31 at the Barnett Center in Aberdeen.
