Two members of the Northern State men’s track and field team had impressive performances in the final meet of the season.
Aberdeen Roncalli graduate Jayden Munroe and Sam Tremelling claimed all-America honors at the NCAA Division II National Championships May 22-24 in Pueblo, Colo.
Munroe, a redshirt freshman, took fourth in the long jump, setting a school record by leaping 7.63 meters.
Tremelling, a senior, placed eighth in the pole vault. He also set a school record, clearing 5.22 meters. That broke his own school record by 7 inches.
Sprinter Chris Weber, an Aberdeen Central graduate, placed 21st in the 100-meter dash in 10.39 seconds.
Silveira Carrara finishes third at No. 4 singles to lead Central at state tennis tournament

Gustavo Silveira Carrara had the top singles finish for the Aberdeen Central boys tennis team at the Class AA state tournament Thursday, May 22 and Friday, May 23 in Sioux Falls.
He defeated Sioux Falls O’Gorman’s Bob Pekas 10-9 (1) in the third-place match.
The Golden Eagles placed eighth in the team race, while Harrisburg won the championship.
Silveira Carrara and AJ Prehn won the consolation championship at No. 1 singles, while the team of Mason Ligon and Dawson Pederson finished in sixth in second-flight doubles.

Aric Tennant and Mika Dannen won their opening round contest at No. 3 doubles, but lost their next two.
Tennant dropped his opening match at No. 5 singles, but won his next two and claimed the consolation championship. He defeated Asher Vandewater of Sioux Falls Jefferson 10-6 in the fifth-place match.
“I had played him earlier this year and beat him, so I pretty much knew what I had to do,” Tennant said. “I felt a little pressure at the start, but played a really good first few games that helped me get the win.”
The Golden Eagles won the Sportsmanship Award given at the end of the tournament.
Central softball misses out on SoDak 16
The Aberdeen Central softball team came up short in its bid to make back-to-back trips to the Class AA SoDak 16. The Golden Eagles finished 2-16 on the year. Spearfish, which finished 2-14, nabbed the 16th and final spot.
All SoDak 16 games, listed below, will be played at the higher seed.
The Class AA state tournament will be June 5-7 at Bowden Field on the campus of Augustana University in Sioux Falls. The Class A and B state tournaments will be June 5-7 at the Players Softball Complex in Aberdeen.
