Aberdeen broke out of its scoring slump Friday, Jan. 24 in Austin, Minn., only to fall back into it the following night, resulting in a split against the Bruins.
The Wings skated to a 5-1 win Friday, then were shut out 4-0 Saturday, Jan. 25 in North American Hockey League action.
After a scoreless opening 20 minutes Friday, Sebastien Lillsund got the Wings on the board 1:31 into the second period off assists by Nikolai Tishkevich and Gustas Zemaitis. Briggs Orr, playing his sixth game since begin acquired from the Maine Nordiques, added his first tally for the Wings to make it 2-0.

After Austin’s Luc Malkhassian drew the Bruins within a goal late in the second period, Cade Moxham, Grant Winkler and Cooper Anderson sealed the game for Aberdeen with third-period goals.
Willum Braun saved 23 of 24 shots in goal to pick up the win.
In Saturday’s loss, all 41 Aberdeen shots were turned away. Goalie Carl Axelsson logged the shutout in net for the Bruins. Malkhassian netted the game-winner in the first period.
Aberdeen is now 21-14-1-0 and in fourth place in the Central Division, five points ahead of St. Cloud.
The Wings and Austin meet again this weekend, time at the Odde Ice Center on Friday, Jan. 31 and Saturday, Feb. 1. Both games begin at 7:15 p.m.
Cougars rally, but fall short in OT
The Aberdeen Cougars girls hockey team trailed 3-1 after the first period, rallied to force overtime, but fell 6-5 to Oahe on Saturday, Jan. 25 at the Odde Ice Center.
Aberdeen tied the game with 25 seconds left in regulation on a goal by Aiden Raap, but the Capitals netted the game winner with 5:09 left in OT when Brylee Kafka scored her fourth goal of the game.

The Cougars outshot Oahe 43-25.
Aberdeen is now 9-7 in league play, good for fourth place. The Cougars travel to Watford, N.D., for a tournament on Saturday, Feb. 1 and Sunday, Feb. 2.
Central wrestlers finish second at East-West Duals
Aberdeen Central boys wrestling had a more-than-solid performance Saturday, Jan. 25 at the East-West Duals in Pierre.
Central opened with wins over Rapid City Central and Spearfish by a combined score of 155-3. The Golden Eagles took down Rapid City Stevens 43-21 before falling to Sturgis by the same score in the finals.
The Golden Eagles boys and girls teams host the Lee Wolf Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 1 at Golden Eagles Arena. Matches begin at 9:30 a.m.
