NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING TO ADOPT RULES
A public hearing will be held at the AmericInn Conference Room, located at 312 Island Drive in Fort Pierre, SD 57532 on April 7, 2025 at 8:00a.m. Central, to consider the adoption and amendment of proposed Administrative Rules of South Dakota numbered:
§§ 20:50:02:04.03, 20:50:02:06, 20:50:04:13, 20:50:04:14, 20:50:06:01,
20:50:06:01.01, 20:50:06:02, 20:50:11:01, and 20:50:11:03.
The effect of the rules will be to clarify licensing standards by updating the national board examination terminology, creating guidelines for delegation, clarifying telehealth standards, updating minimum office equipment, clarifying office inspection requirements, and updating provisions relating to corporate practice registration.
The reason for adopting the proposed rules is to comply with law changes and national industry standards, and to clarify the practice act for practitioners and the public.
Persons interested in presenting amendments, data, opinions, and arguments for or against the proposed rules may appear in-person at the hearing, or mail or e-mail them to State Board of Examiners in Optometry, 13537 Dark Timber Ct in Piedmont, South Dakota 57769 and E-mail Address [email protected]. The deadline to submit any such written comments for consideration by this Board is April 4, 2025.
After the written comment period, the State Board of Examiners in Optometry will consider all written and oral comments it receives on the proposed rules. The Board may modify or amend a proposed rule at that time to include or exclude matters that are described in this notice.
