What to know about Election Day


While Democrats have only a presidential candidate race to worry about, Republicans will have their say on several local races in the June 4 primary election.

Brown County Commission, Legislative District 3 Senate, Legislative District 23 Senate and House, and District 1 House races will be on the GOP ballot.

In the county commission, District 3 and District 23 races, the winners will be unopposed in November.

Here’s what you need to know on Election Day.

Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Brown County has vote centers, which means registered voters can cast ballots at any of the designated polling places. They are at:

As always, voters should take a valid identification. Those who don’t present an ID will be asked to sign an affidavit.

The deadline to register to vote in the primary election was May 20. Those wishing to confirm their voter registration, party information or legislative district or see sample ballots can use the voter information portal on the South Dakota Secretary of State’s office, sdsos.gov, or call their local county courthouse.
