The Aberdeen Area Community Foundation has issued four grants totaling more than $15,000 this summer.
Sanford Health received $1,500 to expand its parenting education programming in the Aberdeen area, according to a news release.
Journey Church’s Journey Kids Daycare Program received $6,500 to expand its program.
The Aberdeen Area Nonprofit Network, a group of nonprofit organizations in the area, will receive up to $2,000 to support a local event on the eve of the South Dakota Day of Giving.
The Aberdeen Housing Authority was awarded $2,500 for a recumbent cross trainer for Central Villas Apartments.
K.O. Lee Aberdeen Public Library received $2,500 to support its Big Read project, which will be between fall 2023 and spring 2024.
The Aberdeen Area Diversity Coalition received funding of up to $500 to support a poverty simulation.
So far this year, the Aberdeen Area Community Foundation has distributed more than $26,000 in grants, per the release.

Sharmen Buechler has been honored with the 2023 Individual Council Award for Activities. The award was presented in September during the South Dakota Health Care Association’s 72nd Annual Fall Convention Awards Lunch in Sioux Falls. The honor is a testament to Buechler’s exceptional commitment to enhancing the quality of life for residents through engaging and meaningful activities, according to a news release.
Sarah Dockter has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship by the South Dakota Health Care Association. It’s in recognition of her commitment to the field of long-term
care and her dedication to personal growth and development through higher education, per the release.
Aberdeen Health & Rehab matched the scholarship with an additional $1,000. The scholarship, sponsored by South Dakota Health Care Association, is designed to support individuals pursuing higher education in long-term care.
